People You Meet

I met some wonderful people while in Baltimore: The three friends (Karen, Joanne, and Barbara) who each bought a sculpture from me; Martha (a sweetheart of a woman) who bought my President Obama sculpture; Bob who bought a Santa; Gloria (who bought a French chore girl); Susan (who bought a saint); a gallery owner from Ohio; one from New York; one from Baltimore; one from Chicago (all of whom have now bought for their galleries) ; Elaine ( a doll collector)who owns some original Izannah Walker dolls; a store owner that wants me to do a trunk show in the future for her, and many others who were all a joy to meet. And then, on the last day, Cynthia walked into my booth and said to her husband, "There is something blue." We laugh about that comment now. I liked her immediately. She was outgoing, said what she needed, discussed possiblities, and left liking Sophie and Claudette, my two french clown dolls. We figured out some stands for them to sit on after I got back home, and the clowns went to live with Cynthia. She kindly sent me a picture of the girls in their new home which I posted for you to see. Don't they look adorable, poised on her dresser, observing life from their new viewing station? And don't you love the mirror she has in the background? I like to imagine Sophie and Claudette sneaking to see themselves in the mirror when others aren't looking...like us.. a bit shy about wanting to examine how we look to others.

It gives me great joy to send my art to homes where I have actually met the residents of those homes. Since I mostly sell from boutiques and galleries, I often don't have that luxury. This is one of those times when I know who will view my art each day, and it is one of those times that makes me so glad that I do what I do. To all of you that now own some of my art, thanks for your support and may it give you great joy for years to come.

In my next post, I will talk about some of the amazing artists I met while at the ACC Show.
