First part: The thought. How it happens: You are sitting there with friends in a cafe... You are alone with a sketch pad... You are walking the dogs...You are eating oatmeal (once again!) for breakfast...You are taking a 30 second break before beginning the next chapter....BLAM...It hits you...THE IDEA.
Second part: Standing back for the first time and looking at your creation as if you hadn't birthed it. How it happens: You feel the headpiece and realize it is dry...You paint it...You cut any hanging threads...You go grab a cup of tea that you have been thinking about but haven't gotten around to getting for the last two hours because you didn't want to stop working....You head back with your tea to the table where your doll/sculpture/pulltoy sits...and you see it for the first time as others will...and it pulls at your heart.
I love what I do.
